62 people killed in plane crash in Brazil

A tragic accident occurred in the southern suburbs of Brazil, when a plane operated by VoePass Airlines crashed into a residential area. The tragic flight, carrying 62 people, including 58 passengers, and four crew members, was en route from Sao Paulo to Guarulhos International Airport.

The cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed.

The plane hit several houses and caught fire on impact. GloboNews, a Brazilian TV channel, broadcast shocking images of the accident, showing a vast area in flames and thick smoke billowing from what appeared to be the fuselage.

Other images show the plane spiraling downwards vertically before crashing.

The fire department confirmed the accident, but no further details were available on casualties or rescue operations.

Flight data from indicated that the plane had left Cascavel and lost the signal shortly after 13:30 local time (12:30), MSNBC reports.
