A Buffy the Vampire Slayer Remake

Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be making a return to the big screen, but with several modifications.

After months of rumours, The Hollywood Reporter announced that there will not be a new sequel to the film, but rather a remake of the original 1992 flick, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kas Kuzui, are currently in talks to direct the project.

However, there are no implications that Buffy creator Joss Whedon will be involved in the remake.

Vertigo Entertainment is backing the project, hoping to veer as far away as possible from the series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.

In addition, the characters Willow, Angel, Xander and Spike will not be included. The directors want to keep within the original concept that for each generation, there is a chosen one to combat evil forces alone.

The 1992 film starred Kristy Swanson as Buffy.
