Variety.com reported that this Focus Features film was inspired by a story written by Dave Eggers and Vendela Vida. The title of the film, originally called This Must Be The Place, has not been announced.
Mendes was planning to continue directing dramas for the big screen, like the film Middlemarch, written by George Eliot. However, after making several dramatic productions, Mendes wanted to try a comedy.
Before beginning his work on the comedy, Mendes will complete the film Revolutionary Road, which is a drama starring Kate Winslett and Leonardo DiCaprio. The film will be released in theatres at the end of the year.
