A Difficult Year for Bono the Activist

The U2 lead singer, Bono, agrees that his activism has caused friction within the band.

In an interview with BBC Radio, the Irish singer said that his fight against world hunger has brought certain tensions between himself and other members of U2.  He revealed, "There was one point when I thought  ‘I’m going to be thrown out of the band for this stuff’."

Referring to his fellow band members, Bono said: "They are hugely supportive spiritually and financially of the work I do, but they are in a rock ‘n’ roll band and the first job of a rock ‘n’ roll band is not to be dull."
