Paramount Studios is in negotiations with filmmaker Chris Columbus to direct the movie, Ripley’s Believe It or Not!.
Jim Carrey is still casted in the film as columnist, Robert Ripley.
Production was interrupted last year in China when Tim Burton was heading the project. It seems that the story is being rewritten after Columbus presented his ideas, meaning that the original segment in China could be completely scrapped.
Paramount hopes to release the film in 2011 and intends on creating a Ripley franchise.
The next project for director Chris Columbus is I Love You, Beth Cooper, starring Hayden Panettiere (Heroes). The film will hit theatres on March 27, 2009.
