A mechanism that promotes fertilization

There is a physiological mechanism that promotes the chances of infertile couples having a child.

Researchers have discovered a natural mechanism in mice that improves medically assisted procreation (MAP) and gives infertile couples a better chance of having a child.

This mechanism targets and destroys abnormal spermatozoa. The chances of fertilization with inappropriate sperm are significantly reduced, thereby increasing the chances of a successful fertilization.

Upon entering the vaginal tract, sperm releases the phospholipase A2 enzyme. It destroys the membrane surrounding the nucleus of defective sperm, thus rendering them infertile.

Now researchers want to find a way to treat defective sperm to allow a greater number of healthy sperm to enter the race and thus increase the chances of a successful fertilization.
