A New Band for Thom Yorke

Thom Yorke is surrounded by talented musicians.

After releasing several songs recently, both with Radiohead and as a solo artist, Yorke has announced that he’s formed a new band with a few well-known musicians.

The group, which is yet to be named, consists of Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Joey Waronker of REM, Mauro Refosco, a Brazilian multi-instrumentalist, and producer Nigel Godrick, who has worked with Radiohead since the 1997 release of OK Computer.

The main purpose of the musicians coming together is to join Yorke on his solo tour.  During the solo performances, Yorke plans on playing material from his 2006 album, Eraser.

"In the past couple of weeks I’ve been getting a band together for fun to play ‘The Eraser’ stuff live and the new songs etc, to see if it could work," the singer wrote on Radiohead’s Dead Air Space blog.

Two dates, October 4 and 5, have already been announced for the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles.
