Rei Kawakubo will join other designers, including Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Viktor & Rolf, who have all created collections for the Swedish brand H&M.
The whole family, including women and children, will be able to purchase creations from Kawakubo, who will also design an accessory line as well as a unisex perfume for the reputable chain.
The creations will be presented for the first time on November 13 during the opening of the second H&M store in Tokyo. Kawakubo said, "I have always been interested in the balance between creation and business. It is a dilemma, although for me creation has always been the first priority. It is a fascinating challenge to work with H&M since it is a chance to take the dilemma to its extreme, and try to solve it."
