According to Variety, Eva Mendes will be starring in Queen of the South. The film will be an adaptation of the successful novel by Spanish writer and journalist, Arturo Perez-Reverte.
Josh Hartnett and Ben Kingslet have also joined the cast of the film.
Queen of the South will be directed by Jonathan Jakubowicz, who also wrote the screenplay with Albert Torres.
The film follows the story of a Mexican woman who moves to Spain after the murder of her drug-dealing boyfriend. She then begins smuggling drugs and wants to avenge his death.
Eva Mendes can be seen in the film The Women, opening on October 10. Josh Hartnett can be seen in the film August on July 11, while Ben Kingsley stars in War Inc., which hits theatres on September 11.
