According to the New York Post, Johansson may be joining the cast of the musical South Pacific.
The star of the film Lost in Translation is being considered for the role of nurse Nellie Forbush for the live show, which will open at Lincoln Center in January of 2008. Auditions for the part will continue next month.
Russian tenor Dimitri Hvorostovsky is already considered a favourite for the role of Emile De Becque. A source said of the show’s producers, "They want the leads to be sexy. This is not going to be a stodgy old production of South Pacific."
