According to the Hollywood Reporter, Puss in Boots will be starring in his own animated film.
Chris Miller, co-director and co-writer of Shrek the Third, has written a new screenplay for Puss in Boots for Dreamworks Animation.
Puss in Boots, who is voiced by Antonio Banderas, was at first an enemy to Shrek, but in the second film, became a loyal friend to the ogre and his friend, Donkey.
The character will also be seen in the film Shrek Goes Fourth, which is expected to reach theatres on May 21, 2010.
The Shrek film franchise has earned more than $2 billion at box offices, as well as more than $10 million in DVD and product sales.
