A New Writer for Spider-Man 4

It appears that playwright David Lindsay-Abaire will be working on the screenplay for the next Spider-Man film.

Lindsay-Abaire is in final negotiations with Columbia Pictures to write the screenplay for Spider-Man 4.

The writer earned a Pulitzer Prize in 2007 for Rabbit Hole, which was performed on Broadway in 2006 and earned four Tony Awards.

We also know that Sam Raimi will direct the project.  Tobey Maguire will play the lead role, and it is believed that Kirsten Dunst will also be returning to her role.  Details about the plot are being closely guarded.

The film is expected to reach theatres in May 2011.

David Lindsay-Abaire also wrote the screenplay for the film Inkheart, which opens in theatres in January.
