Ledger’s father, Kim, plans to finish what Heath had started, and open a bar in New York called BrightSide. The actor had been working on the project before his accidental overdose of prescription medications.
Jud Mongell, Ledger’s friend and business partner, said, "He drew the floor plans, and thought of the name – ‘BrightSide’."
Mongell added, "The whole idea was to make it a spot for us. We wanted to make it our own space to hang out."
He hopes that the new establishment will become a place where friends and fans alike can remember the star, who died last January at the age of 28. A fan added, "Everyone is really excited that Heath’s bar will open soon. He played an active part in getting the project together."
