A Post-Death Oscar for Heath Ledger

Michael Caine believes that Heath Ledger will be nominated for an Oscar.

According to Michael Caine, who co-starred in The Dark Knight, Heath Ledger could receive an Oscar for his role as the Joker in the film The Dark Knight.

The performance, which has been observed by many film critics, is rumoured to win nominations at the next Academy Awards ceremony.

Caine adamantly believes that his co-star will be awarded or mentioned at the very least. The 75-year-old actor, who has a Hollywood star in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, said, "I think he’ll get a posthumous Oscar nomination at least. I just watched him and talked to him for three days and I thought he was extraordinary."

Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment on January 22, following an accidental drug overdose. He was 28 years old.

The Dark Knight hits theatres on July 18.
