A Recall for the Ferrari F355

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is concerned about the safety of the Ferrari F355.

Produced from 1994 to 1999, the Ferrari F355 was the first car from the Italian automaker to be equipped with the F1 gearbox and steering wheel paddle shifters.

In 1997, Ferrari first issued a recall of its Berlinetta V8.  A problem with the fuel pump required repairs that could be handled at a local garage.  However, some of these repairs were not handled properly.  The result is a defect that can cause a leak in the engine compartment.  In worst cases, this human error can cause the car to catch fire.

The NHTSA has now issued a new recall, twelve years after the initial problem was discovered.  Today, at least 2356 F355s, F355 Spiders and 355 F1s are potentially affected.
