A Remake of La femme d’à côté

New Line asked Neil LaBute to have the screenplay to remake the movie La femme d’à côté, by Truffault.

The 1981 film by Truffault, La femme d’à côté, will be redone by New Line Cinema. Taylor Hackford (Ray, The Devil’s Advocate), will be adapting the screenplay done by LaBute.

It will be the premiere for Neil LaBute. He cannot do anything until the strike is resolved with the Writer’s Guild of America.

"This is a lesser-known Truffaut film about ex-lovers, long separated, who suddenly find themselves living next door to each other," LaBute said. "Each is married. Neither tells their spouse they know each other, and it’s a collision course into disaster as they rekindle a volatile relationship, with great passion and suspense. "

LaBute is in post-production for the suspense Lakeview Terrace, while Hackford is directing his wife, Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci in Love Ranch.
