Warner Bros. is seriously contemplating opening The Dark Knight in theatres for the second time in January.
The president of distribution at Warner, Dan Fellman, acknowledged that there had been talks with IMAX to show The Dark Knight in certain theatres in January, which is a key time slot regarding votes for the Oscars. However, there is no word of the film hitting the regular theatres again.
At this point, The Dark Knight has earned $513 million at the American box office and $440 million worldwide. Regarding IMAX theatres, $55 million is being projected.
The release of the film to Blu-Ray DVD is expected in the month of December.
