A Second Round for Nirvana’s Music

The music from the former grundge band Nirvana may soon be heard in various commercials.

According to Forbes magazine, Nirvana’s songs will soon be available for commercial and television use.  Courtney Love, the widow of the band’s late leader, Kurt Cobain, has decided to sell a portion of Nirvana’s music catalog.  Now, grundge music may be popping up for commercial use.

Four songs will be heard in an upcoming episode of television’s CSI: Miami.  Peter Asher, Love’s attorney, explained that the decision was not necessarily on money alone.  Asher explained, "The decisions we make have nothing to do with money one way or the other. It’s a matter of, is this a cool show, is this a movie we’d like to be a part of? If it’s a tiny independent movie but it makes sense, we might let them use (a song) for almost nothing."

Kurt Cobain died of a suicide in 1994.  The band’s first DVD, Nirvana, Live! Tonight! Sold Out!, will be released on November 14.
