The film will be produced by Lynda Obst and Christine Peters and their respective companies, Lynda Obst Productions and CFP Productions.
The original film, starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, became the most successful Paramount film of 2003, earning more than $177 million.
The stars of the sequel have not yet been revealed.
