Last weekend during a press conference with the Television Critics Association, Duchovny announced that discussions are underway for a sequel to the 1998 film.
The project would be directed by Chris Carter, who wrote the screenplay for the original film. Duchovny would return to his role as agent Fox Mulder, and his co-star, Gillian Anderson, would also return to play agent Dana Scully.
