ABC gave the honour to the 76-year-old talk show host, Regis Philbin. Philbin’s interviews with the stars arriving on the red carpet will be presented starting at 5:00 p.m. on February 24.
The television producer, Dennis Doty stated, "Regis is the perfect guy to serve as host. He knows everyone, and everyone loves Regis!" "I’m thrilled that he has agreed to be the ringmaster for this year’s extravaganza."
Philbin has been a talk show host for many years and is known for his humour and enthusiasm. He also holds a Guinness record for the most air time in his career.
The Academy Awards will reveal the nominations on January 22.
