Aaron Taylor-Johnson confirmed for Avengers sequel

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has signed on to play Quicksilver in ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been confirmed for ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’.

The ‘Kick-Ass’ actor has signed on to play speedy superhero Quicksilver, twin to the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and the son of Magneto, in Joss Whedon’s upcoming sequel.

According to The Wrap, Taylor-Johnson had to make sure his commitments to ‘Godzilla’ – which also features rising star Olsen – didn’t clash with the Marvel movie before accepting the role.

Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jeremy Renner will all reprise their roles in the follow-up to 2012’s blockbuster hit ‘The Avengers’.

The film sees a superhero collective including Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Nick Fury and Thor team up against the mighty villain Ultron, played by James Spader.

Whedon previously explained: ”I knew right away what I wanted to do with [Ultron]. He’s always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it, he’s got a bee in his bonnet.

”He’s not a happy guy, which means he’s an interesting guy. He’s got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff.”

‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ is set for release in 2015.
