The next World Hockey Championship will take place from May 12 to 28.
With many NHL players currently playing in the playoffs, and others looking for a rest from their season, this opens the door for some young players to make their mark.
Many would have liked to see Connor Bedard take part, but the young phenom refused to go, as there wasn’t much left for him to prove for the draft.
We already know he’ll go first, so there’s no need to risk injury in Bedard’s case.
But even second place is not guaranteed at the next draft, as Adam Fantilli and Leo Carlsson could very well end up behind Bedard.
As for Leo Carlsson, nothing has been confirmed, but there’s a good chance we could see him play for Sweden at the World Hockey Championships.
And now, according to Jeff Marek of Sportsnet, Adam Fantilli is expected to represent Canada at the same spring tournament.
Expect draft prospect Adam Fantilli to play for Team Canada at the World Hockey Championships.

The two talented, large-format centers will be of interest to several teams, and they’ll want to confirm who would be the better choice of the two.
Bedard isn’t the only one not representing Canada this spring.
We recall that Martin St-Louis was approached to be part of the Team Canada coaching group, but the CH head coach decided to spend more time with his family.
There’salso captain Nick Suzuki, who could very well have earned a spot with Canada, but instead decided to rest after another full NHL season.
However, for Tricolore fans, there’s goaltender Samuel Montembeault, who will be wearing Canada’s colors next May. If given the chance, Montembeault will want to prove that he could be the Montreal Canadiens’ true #1 goaltender next season.
The upcoming World Hockey Championships will give a number of players and goalkeepers a chance to shine with their national teams. Some will want to consolidate their place in their club’s starting line-up, while others will want to prove they can go higher in the next draft.
In any case, international field hockey fans will be in for a treat for more than two consecutive weeks, starting on May 12.
