Adele on the mend

Songbird to end silence at London concert in two weeks.

Could England be facing a mysterious virus that attacks the voices of pop singers? Both Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran, and now Adele, are suffering from voice problems while each are in the middle of their respective tours.

Le Bon may be returning to active duty soon, but 23-year-old Adele Adkins may have to wait a little longer. While the Rolling in the Deep singer’s second album 21 is currently peaking on the charts, she’s at home resting her voice.

On her blog today (June 21), the singer apologized for having to cancel her U.S. tour, but said there were definite plans to reschedule.

“I had to give my voice 2 weeks rest or risk permanent damage. I’m so so sorry. We are in the middle of rescheduling it all and I will see you there when I return. Once all the new dates are in place I’ll let you know straight away!”

The singer has been resting at home, but is bored and anxious to get back on the road.

“I can’t wait to be able to sing again, I’m bored stiff. I’ve had a check up and I’m on the mend, I still need to take it easy and rest but things are looking up.”

She puts rumors to rest, writing, “I haven’t been told to not sing or talk for a month, I have given up smoking again! And also I’m not having singing lessons.

“I got better before and I’m getting better this time, and I will do everything I can to make sure nothing like this happens again! I’m gonna be on stage in London in just under 2 weeks but it’s a surprise I think!?”
