Aerosmith Moving On Without Steven Tyler

Aerosmith will be looking for a new frontman.

It seems that Steven Tyler has decided to leave the band that made him famous.  During a performance at the Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi, Tyler hinted that he is considering going solo, leaving the other members of Aerosmith without a lead singer. "I don’t know what I’m doing yet, but it’s definitely going to be something Steven Tyler: working on the brand of myself — Brand Tyler," the star told the crowd.

Things have been strained for the band since their summer tour with ZZ Top, especially after Tyler fell during a performance.  Guitarist Joe Perry, frustrated from having to postpone shows, asked Tyler to back out of Aerosmith’s South American tour, which is scheduled to begin at the end of the year.  On finding a new singer, guitarist Brad Whitford said, "That’s big shoes to fill. Nobody could replace Steven or imitate him — he’s one of a kind. But if somebody was willing to do it and the chemistry was right, why not?"

The band’s breakup comes just before Aerosmith would have celebrated 40 years of making music together next year.
