Affordable Karl Lagerfeld collection coming to Macy’s

German designer launches capsule collection for U.S. department store.

German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld – best known as Chanel’s creative director – has partnered with U.S. department store Macy’s to launch an affordable ready-to-wear capsule collection, reports Elle.

The Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse collection will include classic dresses, flowing tops, statement tweeds, T-shirts, leggings and more. Prices will range from $50 to $170 and the items go on sale August 31 for only six to eight weeks.

"It’s quintessential Lagerfeld but done at affordable prices. It’s really focused on statement jackets, tweeds, novelty fabrics, and dresses. They’re the type you can see them from a distance and know they’re Karl’s," explained Jeff Gennette, Macy’s chief merchandising officer.

"His participation in Macy’s designer capsule initiative marks a very fashionable milestone. A true representation of his iconic style, Karl Lagerfeld’s exclusive collection for Macy’s adds a new dimension of attainable luxury for our customers."

The highlight of the collection is a floral shirt-dress inspired by Lagerfeld’s work from the ’70s: "It’s a coup d’oeil to the dresses I designed for Chloé and the girlish, more romantic mood of the Seventies," the designer told Vogue.

Lagerfeld’s last budget line was a collaboration with H&M which sold out worldwide in only two days when it went on sale in 2004. The designer has also done limited edition collections for Atelier Swarovski and Hogan.
