Today, the field hockey world learned of the end of the career of a real man.
Indeed, the NHL and the Bruins wished Patrice Bergeron a happy retirement.
In fact, a Bruins video suggests that the captain’s decision has long been made → https://t.co/a2JaqwJVoi

But as a company, the Bruins won’t mourn his loss for too long. They need to replace him if they want to win.
Scott Billeck, a columnist who follows the Winnipeg Jets, wonders if a guy like Mark Scheifele might be of interest to the Boston team.
Now there’s some finality in Boston on Bergeron, wonder if Scheifele’s name starts getting tossed around a bit more. Lindholm is Calgary, too. Suspect Boston would prefer the latter.

Hate him all you want, but Scheifele is still a very good offensive player. What’s more, it looks like he’ll be leaving the Jets (like everyone else). Last year, the center collected 68 points in 81 games. He’d be a good replacement for Bergeron, but he’ll never fit on the Quebecer’s shoulders.
Still, Winnipeg’s 55 would be better than nothing than Pavel Zacha, of all people.
In Boston, finding a number-one/two center is imperative. With Bergeron retired and David Krejci’s future uncertain, the team doesn’t have much depth at the position. In fact, depth at forward is lacking.
A top-6 of Brad Marchand, Pavel Zacha, David Pastrnak, JVR, Charlie Coyle and Jake DeBrusk isn’t going to replicate last year’s success.
Another name that could interest the Bruins: Elias Lindholm. The 28-year-old right-hander will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of next season, and the chances of him returning to Calgary aren’t necessarily the best. A trade to Boston is therefore possible.
The Swede is more reliable defensively than Scheifele. And the two are pretty equal offensively. So I wonder if one of them will be part of the solution in Massachusetts.
If I had to choose one of the two, I’d go with Lindholm.
