Aimee Mullins new ambassador for L’Oreal Paris

Paralympic athlete signs on with French cosmetics giant.

Following famous beauties Diane Kruger, Beyoncé Knowles and Jennifer Lopez, L’Oreal Paris recently announced model-actress Aimee Mullins as its newest brand ambassador, reports FashionMag.

Mullins, 35, is an American athlete, actress, fashion model, and motivational speaker who is best known for her athletic accomplishments, despite a medical conditional that resulted in the childhood amputation of both legs below the knee.

“The L’Oreal Paris icons are among the most beautiful women in the world,” said Mullins. “I am very honored to be joining this family. The ‘Because I’m Worth It’ tagline means a lot to me. Beauty is not skin-deep; it can be a means of self-affirmation, a true indicator of personality and confidence.

"Aimee Mullins is a truly remarkable woman,” said Karen Fondu, President at L’Oreal Paris. “An accomplished athlete, muse, fashion model and talented actress, yet she is so much more: a smart, confident, curious woman who will wholly represent our philosophy, ‘Because You’re Worth It.’ We are proud to welcome her to the L’Oreal Paris family.”

Mullins was an athletics champion in the 1996 Paralympics, beating the 100m, 200m and long jump world records. In 1998, she appeared in a fashion show for Alexander McQueen, who carved her a pair of wooden legs. She also models in shows for Dior and Valentino.
