Actor Alec Baldwin will be starring in an upcoming screen adaptation of the Broadway hit Rock of Ages, reports Coming Soon.
The 30 Rock star will join Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough and Mary J. Blige who are already signed to the film, director Adam Shankman confirmed via Twitter.
"So, based on info I got today, I’m gonna confirm Alec Baldwin as Dennis in Rock Of Ages. Hollah," Shankman wrote Friday (March 4).
Using radio hits from the ’80s and ’90s, the musical tells the story of two aspiring musicians arriving in L.A. to follow their dreams, only to find that the city may not be all that they had hoped. Baldwin will play Dennis Dupree, an aging, has-been rock star who runs a Los Angeles nightclub.
A 1992 Tony Award winner for his work in A Streetcar Named Desire, Baldwin is rumored to be performing his own songs.
