Alessandra Facchinetti and Pinko collaborate for Uniqueness

Fashion embraces technology.

Uniqueness, the joint brainchild of Pietro Negra and Alessandra Facchinetti, is a new ready-to-wear line that will be unveiled in Paris this autumn, according to a joint statement.

Facchinetti, Italian designer and former creative director for Gucci and Valentino, has teamed up with Italian designer-retailer Pinko, to create a new capsule collection that takes advantage of online technology to connect with its clientele.

According to the duo, “Uniqueness is a project that processes and then reworks in fashion form today’s intense technology-induced sociocultural forces.”

They will be pioneering a product distribution system that “gets past the idea of seasons.” The clothes will be sold for sale both directly on the Web and through a network of select retailers, where customers can enjoy on the spot service.

“I’m excited to have the chance to work on such an innovative and unconventional project, where the freedom to interpret the times effectively becomes the brand’s DNA,” said Facchinetti.

“This project captures a technological marketing concept for our generation,” added Negra. “Stretching to the max a series of assets unique to the creative vision of the Pinko brand, now for the first time merging at a high level of creativity.”

The Uniqueness collection will be presented in Paris this October, during the 2012 spring-summer Fashion Week shows. The entire line will reportedly be available one week after the Paris debut.
