Alexander McQueen brand will carry on

The Alexander McQueen label will not disappear following the designer’s death.

Vogue reports that the Alexander McQueen label will continue operating. The 40-year old designer died last week.

PPR chairman and chief executive François-Henri Pinault made the announcement today (February 18). He stated, "You understand, the Alexander McQueen trademark will live on. Fashion has lost one of its extraordinary people. He was one of the falling stars that comes across our generation [and] he is a person we will miss enormously."

According to Pinault, the brand has great potential. This was backed up by Robert Polet, president and CEO of Gucci group. He added,  "Lee will leave behind an important legacy that Gucci Group will continue to protect, grow and celebrate. There is an outstanding team at Alexander McQueen, a team that has enormous talent and energy and a passion that Lee was extremely proud of, and so am I."

Alexander McQueen hung himself in his London home on February 11.
