Alice Cooper to perform world’s first holographic concert

Virtual version of heavy metal legend will take the stage next month.

Heavy metal legend Alice Cooper is set to perform the world’s first holographic concert next month, reports Gibson.

The Jägermeister Ice Cold Event will take place May 11 at London’s Battersea Power Station, to help promote the June 6 release of the band’s box set, Old School: 1964-1974.

The concert will feature holograms of the band’s surviving original members, Alice Cooper, Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith and Michael Bruce, with Steve Hunter standing in for the late Glen Buxton. It will be the first time the band has appeared together in the U.K. — even if it is in holograph-form — since 1972.

"We couldn’t resist this," said Cooper. "…to appear as holograms on the other side of the Atlantic is the ultimate experience, a cutting-edge conjuring trick that celebrates the future and our history. We can’t wait to see the result."

DJ Zane Lowe will host the event and play an exclusive DJ set during the show. As well as the holographic performance from the headliners, the extravaganza will also include live performances from "Jägerband" The King Blues, and XFM DJs Eddy Temple Morris and Ian Camfield.
