Alice in Chains Announce Canadian Dates

Alice in Chains will be rocking crowds in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver in 2010.

The band, which is making a new start following the death of singer Layne Staley, has released their first album in 15 years.  The disc, called Black Gives Way to Blue, will be promoted with a 2010 tour that begins in Western Canada on February 2.

Immediately after playing in Vancouver, Alice in Chains heads south of the border to Seattle.  The American city is the home of the 1990s grunge movement, as well as where Alice in Chains began.  The band will then cross the United States before resurfacing in Canada in March.  Concerts are planned for Montreal and Toronto on March 16 and 17, respectively.  Intimate shows are planned at smaller venues, including Montreal’s Metropolis, and Toronto’s Sound Academy.

The group separated when singer Layne Staley died of a heroin and cocaine overdose in April 2002.  They came back together for a few shows in 2005, and then hired William DuVall in 2007 to replace Staley full time and hit the road with Velvet Revolver.
