Sex and the City 2 snagged a big voice to be part of its soundtrack. Alicia Keys just confirmed she will take part.
You can already hear Alicia Keys when you watch the film’s trailer as her song Empire State of Mind is the background music. She sings the track with rapper Jay-Z. It’s an anthem dedicated to NYC, the American city where the action takes place.
The soundtrack will be released on May 25, two days before the highly anticipated movie hits theatres. Alicia Keys was not asked to write an original song or contribute one of her own songs. Instead, producers thought of her to do a cover of the Blondie song Rapture. It dates back to 1980, part of the Autoamerican album.
Alicia Keys will join Jennifer Hudson and Leona Lewis on the soundtrack. Hudson and Lewis will perform a duet Love Is Your Colour. The legendary Liza Minnelli will do a cover of Beyoncé’s Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) and a duet with Billy Stritch, Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye.
