All aboard for Weezer cruise

Fans invited to ‘floating music festival’ on the high seas.

Going south this winter? If you’re a fan of American alt rock band Weezer, you might want to sign up for their 4-night cruise leaving Miami, Florida on January 19, with a stopover in Cozumel, Mexico, and returning to Miami on January 23.

The floating party on the high seas will get underway with an outdoor Weezer ‘sail away show’ as the ship leaves port. Later on there will be two indoor concerts in order to accommodate all passengers on the ship, as the concert venue only holds 1,400.

Special musical guests include Dinosaur Jr, as well as Sebadoh, Gene Ween and Dave Dreiwitz, Wavves, The Antlers, Yuck, Free Energy, Boom Bip, J Mascis, Lou Barlow, Keepaway, Ozma, The Nervous Wreckords, The Knocks, Sleeper Agent, and Yacht Rock Revue.

Fans will also enjoy a Q&A with the band, and the opportunity to get their picture taken with them. According to the website, prices start at $799 per person for double cabins, or pile in four people for just $599 per person plus $179 for taxes and port fees. Airfare is not included.

Fans can sign up for pre-sale, but are encouraged take some time and look through the site, as there are a few rules about age limits and additional onboard fees.
