Amanda Peet in Martian Film

Amanda Peet has just joined the cast, along with John Cusack, of the New Line Cinema film The Martian Child.

Joan Cusack, John’s sister, will also be starring in the movie.  She will play the sister to her real-life brother’s character.

Menno Meyjes will direct this adaptation of the novel by science-fiction writer David Gerrold.  Jonathan Tolins and Seth Bass wrote the screen version of the tale of a father and his son.  The movie has characteristics of both Parenthood and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

In the film, John Cusack will play a man who, after the death of his wife, adopts a 7 year-old boy who is actually a martian.

Peet, who is presently onscreen in Woody Allen’s Melinda and Melinda, will play the best friend of the new father.

Amanda Peet will also be seen on April 22 in the romantic comedy A Lot Like Love with Ashton Kutcher.
