Amazing Rock Photo Exhibition In New York

55 years of rock are displayed in a new photo exhibit in New York.

The New York Brooklyn Museum is hosting the biggest photo exhibition on the history of rock and roll with Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History, 1955 to the Present.

Some of the most prestigious photographers of this universe have submitted their photos to the exhibit. For example, the works of Anton Corbijn, best known for his black and white photos of U2 and Depeche Mode and for the film, Control, based on former Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis’ final years, will be on display.

Pennie Smith, who took one of the most notorious photos for a music album, will also be exhibited. She photographed Paul Simonon, bassist for The Clash, who broke his instrument during a concert. The photo made the cover of the album, London Calling, which was named best album of 1980 by Rolling Stone magazine.

Bob Gruen, the photographer who took a picture of KISS in a suit and tie and made the cover of the album Dressed To Kill, will also be showcased.

The exhibition, which includes more than 175 photographs from 105 photographers, covers 55 years of music and will end January 30, 2010. Details of this event can be found on the Brooklyn museum website
