The Ugly Betty star will play in the drama American Tragic and will be the excecutive producer.
In this film a young war vet sets off across the country with his friend to find redemption. Ferrera will be playing the vet’s wife and Melissa Leo will play his mother.
The movie will start filming in February in New Mexico, and is expected to hit theatres next fall.
Ferrera can be heard in the animated film How to Train Your Dragon in 2010. She is doing the voicework for Astrid.
