American Apparel Sued By Woody Allen

American Apparel has been named in a lawsuit filed by director Woody Allen.

The clothing brand is accused of ruining Allen’s reputation by using his image without his consent.

The clothing company, which is known for its daring ads, used an image from the film Annie Hall and also an image of the director dressed up as a Hasidic Jew with a long beard and black hat.

Allen is suing American Apparel for $10 million.  Stuart Slotnick, who is the attorney representing the clothing company, stated that Allen’s reputation has been hurt worse than that from other things.  Slotnick added that Allen may be overstating the value of his image.

A trial for the case is set to begin on May 18 in Manhattan.
