During an interview with BBC, Mitch Winehouse admitted that he feels his divorce from Winehouse’s mother has caused their daughter great pain. The Winehouses divorced after Mitch had an extramarital affair for several years with his co-worker, Jane.
Amy Winehouse was aware of her father’s indiscretion, and even referred to his mistress as, ‘Daddy’s work wife’.
Mitch Winehouse says he should have left his wife sooner. He explained, "I thought Amy was over [the affair] pretty quickly – in fact it felt at the time Amy felt no effect at all. Maybe she could not articulate it in words, but she certainly did it with music."
