Andre 3000’s career ‘up in the air’

Outkast rapper Andre 3000 says his music career is "up in the air," and he doesn’t know when he’ll do another album with the group or make a solo record.

Andre 3000’s music career is "up in the air."

The singer, rapper and producer has not got together with Outkast band mate Big Boi since 2006’s ‘Idlewild’ album and although he still writes, isn’t sure if he will put out a solo album either.

He told Rolling Stone magazine: "Things are kind of up in the air with me, and some days, I feel like yeah, I’ll do it. Some days, I feel like, I don’t.

"I don’t know the future of music right now. I have no idea what I do. I honestly don’t.

"I record and I write ideas. I think I’ll always do that, for some reason. But I don’t know if it will go to another artist or will it be my stuff or will it go to some movie. I don’t know. I just kind of keep creating and hopefully, it’ll fall into a slot."

Andre – real name André Benjamin – has most recently been portraying legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix in new film ‘All is By My Side’, and appearing as a guest on other people’s records, which he says puts a lot of pressure on him.

He added: "It’s such a sad thing because now, people judge everything that I do. Because I don’t do it much, they analyse every word and before, you could’ve had a s***ty verse and people just forgot about it. It’s different now.

"My whole motivation is, I don’t want to mess these people’s songs up, more than anything than let me do something great.

"I try to do great, but it’s just a different mind frame now. I don’t sit around and rap everyday. I don’t."

Andre can be heard on rapper T.I.’s track ‘Sorry’ from his latest album ‘Trouble Man’, and has recently also appeared on Lloyd’s ‘Dedication to my Ex (Miss That)’ and Frank Ocean’s track ‘Pink Matter’.
