Ang Lee To Direct Taking Woodstock

Ang Lee will dive into the legendary story of Woodstock.

Ang Lee is teaming with James Schamus to make the film Taking Woodstock. 

The screenplay was written by James Schamus and is based on the memoirs of Elliot Tiber, "Taking Woodstock: A True Story of a Riot, Concert and a Life."  The book was co-written with Tom Monte.

The film takes us back to the big event in the summer of 1969, which became a turning point for an entire generation.

Ang Lee and James Schamus have worked together on ten films, including Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger, Hidden, Dragon and most recently, Lust, Caution.

The budget for Taking Woodstock has been set between $5 and $10 million.  Production on the film should begin before the end of the year.
