Animal protein affects the colon

Too much animal protein can cause chronic inflammatory bowel disease.

People who eat lots of meat and fish are three times more likely to suffer from an inflammatory bowel disease at some point in their lives.

According to French researchers, this is due to ingesting an excessive amount of animal protein. The proteins found in dairy products and eggs do not have the same effect on the colon and digestive tract, unlike those from meats and fish.

These diseases rarely endanger lives but they are really difficult to live with and are often taboo. Among the symptoms caused, there is diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, fatigue and weight loss.

These diseases are caused by inflammation of the colon and digestive tract which themselves respond to the presence of unknown bacteria in the intestinal flora.
