A lawyer for the 39 year-old woman, Ron Rale, confirmed the news.
Various sources have confirmed that Smith was taken to a hospital emergency room after collapsing in her room at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Smith had been staying at the hotel with her boyfriend and personal lawyer, Howard K. Smith. Her five month-old daughter, Dannielynn, was not apparently with the couple.
According to People magazine, Smith’s lawyer revealed shortly before her death that she had not been feeling well for the past few days.
Yesterday, a Los Angeles judge ordered Smith to submit her daughter for DNA testing before February 21 to determine the child’s paternity. Photographer Larry Birkhead is claiming to be the baby’s father, although Smith named Howard K. Stern as the father on the child’s birth certificate.
