According to Variety, Anne Fletcher (27 Dresses) will direct the next Disney comedy, The Matadors.
The film will be based on a true story about a group of male cheerleaders cheering for the NBA team, the Chicago Bulls. We will see what happens when fans decide to become cheerleaders for their favorite team.
The film will present a variety of dance moves, so Fletcher will have to put her choreography background to use. Fletcher was involved in several film choreographies, including Hairspray, Step Up and Princess.
Presently, Disney is in negotiations with the NBA to get the league’s full cooperation on the project.
