Variety announced that the actress will be starring in the romantic comedy.
Hathaway will play a woman who calls off her wedding and leaves her seemingly perfect life because she wants to find her true self. Her parents try to persuade the young couple to go through with the wedding, making her life impossible.
The screenplay was originally written by Dyanne Stempel and Jennifer Robinson, but has been re-written by Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder).
Production is set to begin in March 2009, which gives the actress time to shoot a sequel to Get Smart with Steve Carell.
We can next see Anne Hathaway in the film Passengers, opening on October 24. Her film Bride Wars hits theatres on January 9, 2009.
