The same company behind the Saw franchise has obtained the rights to remake The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and are in negotiations with Lionsgate to hire the cast.
According to Variety, the new screenplay will be written by Stephen Susco (The Grudge).
In 2003, New Line Cinema did a remake of the classic horror film, starring Jessica Biel. There was also a prequel. Twisted Pictures is planning to add several more films to the franchise.
The original film was directed by Tobe Hooper and was released in 1974.
