Another trickle of Arcade Fire info

Arcade Fire performed in the UK on Wednesday (July 7) at East London’s Hackney Empire. They introduced the crowd to songs off the new album, The Suburbs, and played fan favourites from their first two albums.

Frontman Win Butler talked to BBC Newsbeat about returning to the spotlight and the new album. He commented: "If this record doesn’t sound electronic then that’s the greatest compliment."

He admitted that the level of recognition can be disconcerting. He revealed: "It takes a little bit of getting used to knowing that the first warm-up show you ever play will be everywhere on the internet, and you kind of have to grow up in the public in a lot of ways. But it really feels like we’re at the point in this tour now where we’re playing really great and the new songs feel really vital."

After all the hoopla, the new album drops at the beginning of August. In the meantime, the group is headlining the Osheaga music festival at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal on July 31. The Montreal indie group is also heading back to the UK to headline the Reading and Leeds Festivals on August 27 and 28.
