Arcade Fire’s new album blasts into stores soon

The indie super group from Montreal dole out more information about their upcoming release.

Arcade Fire normally likes leaving the media in the dark for as long as possible when it comes to details about what is going on.

If you take a look at what has been added on the group’s website over the past few weeks, you will find the image of a 12-inch album. If you know enough to drag your mouse over the image, you will be able to hear two short audio clips from their upcoming album. There’s also a photo of the group in a 1960s suburban setting. No information accompanies these two images.

Now Arcade Fire sheds some light on the subject. The group officially announced that their third album is called The Suburbs and will be in stores on August 3.

The two songs posted on their website, The Suburbs and Month Of May, were played in their entirety for the first time on the radio yesterday (May 26). They are available starting today on a limited edition vinyl or can also be downloaded. To get a free download of the two songs, fans have to reserve a copy of the album The Suburbs.

Arcade Fire will perform at the Festival d’été de Québec on July 12, at the BluesFest in Ottawa on July 13 and at the Osheaga Festival in Montreal on July 31.
