Are English B&Bs homophobic?

Website poll of Bed & Breakfast owners reveals 13% would not allow gays.

According to a website poll for Bed & Breakfast owners, 13 per cent of respondents would not allow a gay or lesbian couple to share a double room in their establishment.

The survey follows a case in England, where a gay couple, aged 56 and 62 , had been denied accommodation at a B & B in the Berkshire village of Cookham last March.

According to research, 75 per cent of gay travelers worry about the welcome they might get at their destination accommodation. So much so, that a new website, www.furtherafield.com, has been launched to publicize vacation properties that welcome everyone.

Currently, inns in Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands and California are listed on the site.
